Return

The Return of the Fly returns to the premise charted out by the original. The original Fly has died as has his wife leaving behind a scientist son keen on succeeding where his father failed - despite the warnings of his uncle - played by Vincent Price. As the experiment is recreated the inevitable happens and our lovable half fly - half man monster makes reappearance. Like most sequels the Return… suffers from the fact that the shock value of the original is lost. In addition, Return of the Fly takes a good 40 minutes to get to the 'action'. Prior to that the film revolves more around an industrial espionage setting. While this is a necessary part of the plot the fun and games really start when the 'disintegrator - integrator' starts playing tricks with its human 'guinea pigs'.
The undoubted star of the film is the half man - half fly creation - which comes equipped with bulging eyes, pincers and other such insect regalia. Not in the least bit scary this is a fairly entertaining and humorous venture. Price, returns in the sequel but has a smaller and less interesting role than expected. Not one of his memorable roles
