Outstanding Hammer production brings the dark world of voodoo and black magic to the tranquil pastures of the Cornish moorland. Brilliantly acted and superbly directed with some of the most imaginative cinematography of its time.

The rising undead sequence is a genuine shocked and one of the most nightmarish sequences on film. There is also a grisly beheading that had to be pared down to satisfy the astonished censors......but what remains is shocking enough for the era.

A memorable Hammer film, more memorable for the fact that neither Peter Cushing nor Christopher Lee had anything to do with it.
