Blackest of comedies taking its cue from Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre and taking things a logical step or two further. This time the family means business in a commercial as well as murderous one. Farmer Vincent and his gorgeous frumpy accomplice are treating their meat in a very special way. Not only that but their cuts themselves have extraordinary flavour and body - people travel from far and wide to sample farmer Vincent prime cuts. The idea is bizarre enough but things move along at an infernal pace until the climax which is admittedly pretty hysterical arrives, not quite making up for the tedium that has gone before. The production values are virtually non existent and this was just one of the flood of horror titles that was being churned out in the early 80's in the post Halloween horror boom. This one has an interesting idea but it isn't able to sustain the length of the entire movie and things drag badly after the novelty of the situation runs out. Motel Hell has its moments here and there but they occur far too infrequently for this to hit the target. Its simply not entertaining enough.
