A mad scientist, Dr. Arana, tries to create a breed of supermen and superwomen by injecting them with spider serum to induce arachnid characteristics. The experiment only works perfectly on the women who become indestructible. These creatures can grow their limbs back if they lose one. Likewise they can recover from gunshots. Watching this film is an agonizing experience largely due to it's horrendous and incredibly monotonous soundtrack. The ghastly guitar strumming music, if you can call it that, is forever present and extremely irritating and music director Hoyt S. Curtin should be hauled up for torturing the few people who may have been brave enough to endure this film. The plot needless to say is beyond absurd. A man and woman are forced to get into an airplane which is not functioning properly, by this madman, who is clearly supposed to be dangerous but his character seems to be harmless (holding loads of people hostage with one tiny pistol, quite remarkable!). The plane has wooden seats and there don't seem to be any controls in the cockpit. The director tries to create some chemistry between the pilot and a shapely young lady, which falls flat due to the awful performance of the pilot. One scene that will stick in the viewers mind will be the bewitching spider dance performed by the seductive tarantula woman which seems to last an eternity. The film even had it's makers confused as in the end the superwomen who were supposed to be indestructible are killed in a flash by one old man. A truly
mind-altering experience.
