Not just another monster movie, this is delightfully witty from beginning to end. This film is how last year's Godzilla should have been.

Don't let the 'monster croc on the loose' plot fool you - this film works best as a thoroughly amusing comedy with the banter between Fonda and anyone else proving more than a bellyful. That it also succeeds as a highly enjoyable creature feature, is another distinct asset.

Lake Placid is totally inane but delightfully so, and far funnier and acerbic then middle-of-the-road fodder like Notting Hill or Runaway Bride. Very funny indeed, highly entertaining and not in the least bit frightening. A total gas! And what's more, any movie that ends with a classic Bob Marley number has our vote for it from the very outset!
