Old fashioned vampire yarn given a comic twist is effective and surprisingly good fun. Tom Holland shows a natural touch with just the right blend of comic undertones to the werewolf/vampire theme.

Roddy McDowell is perfectly cast but Chris Sarandon steals the show as a superb updated 80's vampire who glides across dancefloors as adeptly as he plunges his fangs into trembling necks! Holland throws in plenty of novel tricks amidst the traditional vampire fare and comes up trumps with a film that works as a campy spoofy horror film and as an ode to Hammer horror that generations grew up watching on TV. It has enough scares and laughs to satisfy.
