A modern Faustian drama with Pacino as the Great Man, manipulating events so that his spawn may flourish. Flashy, handsomely mounted, ostentatious but above all entertaining albeit with a nasty dark soul. Keanu Reeves unfortunately just cannot act, otherwise it's fairly engrossing horror fodder. A hot shot lawyer based in some Southern city gets an amazing offer that he simply cannot refuse. Suddenly, when worries had seemingly been mounting up, here comes an offer like a bolt from the blue that will not only take care on any financial worries but transform him and his wife into Manhattan's financial elite with a lifestyle to match. The lucky breaks just pile on until things start turning just a little odd, and then very nasty indeed.

The film is not a million miles from "Omen" territory of years ago and like that horror smash, this moves along at a rapid pace and style takes precedence over matter, but so long as its entertaining, who cares! Not the kind of film that will take home any awards, but a reasonably entertaining effort all the same.
