Superb exercise in tension building by Philip Noyce. Strong performances all around, but its the direction that is a winner. A taut, stylish, thoroughly enjoyable thriller. Edge of your seat stuff. Stunning stuff, beautifully acted and shot. Rae and John Ingram take to the ocean in an effort to put a horrendous bereavement behind them. Things go awry as they come across a desperate refugee from a sinking ship along the deserted sea. What follows is as successful an exercise in sheer tension as any over the last decade. Graeme Revell's haunting score sustains the tension quite brilliantly. Everything about this movie works, and works quite superbly.
