Lee follows up his Dracula in style. Brilliant sequel to the original is Hammer at its very best. The first hour or so until the count is restored to former glory is dripping with that typical Hammer atmosphere of dread and impending disaster. Clove, the master's dedicated servant, is marvelously played with just the right touch of camp. Barbara Shelley, one of horrors most celebrated queens puts in another good show as prude turned lusting bloodsucker. Lee's sheer presence is such that it matters little that he doesn't have a word to say during the entire course of events. Its yet another exquisite Hammer production, beautifully mounted and directed. There was a time when Hammer was looked upon as a sleazy b-grade set up producing Eurotrash, but looking back, one has to credit the studio's with producing what time has correctly deemed as the best of British cinema.
