Marvellous, edgy thriller with more then a few shades of Todd Browning's classic Freaks involved. Brilliantly acted, it has a compelling, mesmerizing feel to it and there are numerous very effective and chilling sequences involving a mysterious ventriloquist and his doll.

Really rather creepy and impressive. An unheralded classic that deserves a broader audience. The story revolves around the mysterious Vorelli, a weird ventriloquist act with powers way beyond those of the normal circus act. He has London enthralled by his mesmerizing genius. There is more to meets the eye however in this macabre and bizarre tale of twisted horror.

Bryant Halliday is brilliant in the part of Vorelli, oozing menace and slime. The film has elements of the surreal feel of Les Yeux Sans Visage and deserves far greater recognition than it ever received. Genuinely creepy and chilling. We reckon its a minor masterpiece of the macabre.
