Very entertaining serial killer thriller - well conceived, hammily acted with a fair amount of decent tension. Dr. Hudson (Weaver) is a specialist on serial killers and has helped track down countless such cases by aiding the police. However her last escapade was just a little too close to home so she has turned into a hyper ventilating agorophobic who lives hermited in a fortress like apartment with a gay friend to help out with chores now and then. Meanwhile there is a serial killer offing people all over town mimicing murder methods that had been employed by notorious serial killers of years gone by. The killer apes Bundy, Dahmer, The Hillside Stranglers and others one by one using exactly the same grisly modus operandi. The police, stumped for clues come scraping to Dr. Hunter in a bid to help stop the killer before he kills again and again. The film was a swamped upon release by the similarly themed Se7en but it is thoroughly entertaining in its own right and Sigourney Weaver's performance is enjoyable hammy. Some good scares too.
