This long delayed effort finally hits our screens piggy-backing on the director's last success Kaho na pyar hai. The producer must have believed that Rakesh Roshan's name and a stellar cast will help to recoup some of the enormous investment that has gone into this rip off of Indecent proposal.

This tired and tiring film is a relic from the past, a dinosaur which doesn't run but limps to a plodding conclusion. The film opens with a graying Rajiv (Anil Kapoor) and Seema (Juhi Chawla) going to collect "their " son from the airport. Due to a switching of suitcases, their son is arrested and the public prosecutor Amar (a grossly overweight, alcohol sodden and aged Rishi Kapoor) takes on the case. On hearing that it is Rajiv and Seema's son, he gets into action. Obviously, there is a bone to pick here and we then go back to the story in flashback. In a nutshell, and it doesn't actually deserve more that that, the story is that Amar loves Seema who loves him. We have numerous songs with Rishi's wobbly tummy going in all directions to tell us that these "youngsters" are in love.

Amar has just passed at Law college which makes him somewhere in his mid twenties!!! In walks Rajiv, his old buddy from college who is very rich and believes that he can buy everything. So he sets about "seducing" his best friend's girlfriend who cannot be bought! He sets Amar a challenge saying that he will one day "buy" Seema!!! So Amar marries her and they set up home together. However, one day, Amar meets with an accident and Seema has no option but to go to Rajiv for the money, offering her body in return.

I wish I could tell you more but that would be giving too much of the film away to those foolish enough to endure this indecent and utterly predictable effort. Rishi Kapoor is a hideous mistake for this film and thank the Lord that he has now switched over to character roles. He is so fat and looks utterly ridiculous dancing around with Juhi or trying to give the look of a lovelorn and dejected youth out looking for his first job. That in itself should have you in splits.

Anil Kapoor essays the role of the filthy rich playboy who believes that everything can be bought. The character has no justification whatsoever and really, you have no idea why he is such an insidious character who would seek to steal his best friend's girlfriend. And finally, you have Juhi Chawla in a lack lustre performance with nothing much to offer.

The music is ordinary and there just too many songs in the film, prolonging everyone's agony. As far as direction is concerned, this is perhaps Rakesh Roshan's weakest effort. The film has a very dated look about it and has little but its locations to commend it. My advice to all…buy some postcards and give this one a miss.
