A lone figure skis down the slopes revealing himself to be Suraj (Arjun Rampal) who lives in these rather variable weather conditions…snowcapped mountains, green fields with sheep grazing, apparently some hill station in India which looks dangerously close like New Zealand. But who cares. A bus load of girls arrives from Mumbai to do a tour of the area and guess who gets left off the bus?? Yes, our hapless heroine who happens to be Kiran (Diya Mirza). Yes yes, you got it, it has to be, in case of any doubt, the story of Suraj aur Kiran. She pleds with him to help, he puts her beside himself and on their butts they go zooming down the mountain in order to meet the bus in its path. Love has made its mark despite the obviously frost bitten and sore butts.

Sure enough, love blossoms although remains unsaid. On the day of departure, Suraj is unable to meet Kiran before she leaves because his father falls ill. The two are separated and he does not know where she lives or where she would be. Happily, Suraj and family are transferred to Mumbai and he joins a college there. One day, he comes across Kiran and they start off from where they left off. Songs galore, happiness abound, everything going smoothly, hey wait a minute, there is still 2 hours of the film to go.

Enter the portly figure of Chaudhary (Vinod Khanna), who has Suraj abducted and brought to what is like a meeting of the parliament. All big wigs from the police to senior politicians etc are summoned there to show what clout Chaudhary has. What Chaudhary is actually never really becomes clear but mercifully, he is not a mafia don although the way matters proceed, he is no less than one. It transpires that Kiran is Chaudhary's daughter and he does not think that Suraj is worthy of her. Why is another mystery but it probably is because she lives in a palatial house where he comes from humbler origins. Suraj is given 30 days to leave the city..or else.

Suraj and his family are then victimised in order to drive then out of the city. All the while, hardened Chaudhary not being able to see any sense. Will true love triumph in the end, how will it triumph, will the sun and its rays (puke puke) come together? All rather perfunctory questions but unfortunately, this film has a most unconvincing and pathetic climax, which spoils the feel of the film. Because despite all the clichés and the deluge of unnecessary songs, this film actually passes muster and is quite likeable. The director, thrust with the usual fare, makes a well knit film which does not flag in its pace although the placement of a few songs is very forced and does tend to add to the tedium when the film is actually flowing at a decent pace.

It seems to be the month of Arjun Rampal and once again, he fits in well within your usual commercial film framework and gives a decent performance. Diya Mirza on the other hand can look pretty at times but is a rotten actress…atleast what little one has seen of her so far. And her dialogue delivery requires great improvement. A jowly Vinod Khanna, almost bursting out of his clothes, hence they are left hanging loose I suspect, fails to make much of an impression. The music is noisy, not very exciting and the sort that is instantly forgettable.
