whole massive losses were incurred by the industry for the string of
Box office under performers. Cinema prices were hiked which didn't prove
popular and more and more people resorted to cable connections, legal
and otherwise.

Of
the urdu films Ghar Kab Aao Gay and Sultana Daku were
the outstanding performers of the year while from the Punjabi lot Mehndi
Waley Hath enjoyed a solid run and late in the year Shaan's
Ishatahari Gujjar scored a considerable success.
Three other movies; Mujhe Chand Chahiye, Yaar Badshah and
Billo 420
also performed
well at the Box Office.
The
most prolific/busiest and many would say most successful persons of
2000:
From
the producers Shehzad Gul lead the way with other such as Ch. Mohd Ilyas
Papoo, Tanvir Rehman, Ch. Mohd Ejaz Kamran, Mian Jabbar Khalid, Syed
Noor, Jamshed Zafar, Ch. Khadim Hussain all enjoying fair success.
Of
the directors Syed Noor was the most prolific with no less then 6 releases
during the course of the year.
He was followed by Massod Butt and Pervaiz Rana who both had 5 releases
to their credit and Iqbal Kashmiri was next busiest director with 3
releases.

Of
the main actors Shaan was the most successful as well as the busiest

that Saud is often the side kick or second hero while Moammar is the
main man!

Of
the women, Saima again enjoyed the most successful year continuing her
reign at Lollywood's summit. She snagged 20 films during the year, and
though most of them flopped by the way side, her popularity didn't appear
to take a hit.

The girl who is being groomed as her successor, Sana was the second
most busy starlet and appeared in 13 movies. However, she almost always
was cast as the second heroine while Reema with 10 releases commands
much meatier roles.

the year.

was also cast in 15 movies while Deeba Begum appeared in 8 and Sabira
